The County of Salop Steam Engine Society celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and has some new and exciting events planned during the year for enthusiasts and also for visitors to the August Bank Holiday two-day Rally. The fantastic spectacle of superb steam engines, and beautifully preserved classic and historic vehicles from yesteryear will be delighting visitors to the 2011 Rally at Onslow Park, Shrewsbury on Sunday 28th August and Monday 29th August.
| This year we're going to be celebrating 50 years of The County of Salop Steam Engine Society and plans are well under way to making it our biggest and best rally yet, including 100 Steam Engines, double our usual display.

The Society’s archivist Mike Llewellyn is busy preparing an archive display for visitors to this years rally and is seeking help from enthusiasts in finding out more about the history of The County of Salop Steam Engine Society which started in a small field in Church Stretton, in August 1961 with just 18 steam engines, and which has since grown to be the fabulous display of traction engines and steam rollers which delight many visitors these days.
