First Appearance for Claas Columbus

Making its first appearance at Shrewsbury Steam Rally in 2022 will be this Claas Columbus combine harvester.

Originally owned, from new in 1965, by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB), Cambridge for combining trial plots. Later purchased in 1985 by the famous Cambridgeshire farmer, Oliver Walston of Thriplow Farm Ltd for trial plots of sorghum wheat, after having had a complete overall and re-paint by, the then Claas importers, Manns of Saxham. However, it was only used for one season before being parked up until the current owner purchased it in January 2020, who used it in 2021 for combining four(ish!) acres of spring barley and winter wheat.

This year it will also be helping with the harvest on the Working Field at Onslow Park.
