After the recent years of one dry rally day followed by a wet day, it made a nice change to have the forecasted weather for the two rally days looking reasonably bright, but not too hot!

This was the first year of operating a ‘pre-book only’ system for our caravan & camping field and, judging by the number of bookings, we’d not only managed to get the message of pre-book to the majority but we were also looking at a busy weekend ahead of us.
Huge thanks go as usual to all our Section Secretaries and their helpers, who really do use their wealth of knowledge and interest in their chosen subject to pull together such an interesting array of exhibits year on year – something for which we as an organising committee are ever grateful.
Celebrating the working horse

For our 2016 Rally, we decided that we were going to celebrate most people’s favourite farm labourer, the Working Horse.
Those of you that attended will hopefully agree that Trevor Lloyd, our Working Horses Section Secretary, had successfully put together a fantastic display of horses, and a very impressive sight they were too while parading around the Main Arena.

In pursuit of their hobbies, and of having an enjoyable weekend with likeminded people, we also know that our exhibitors can go to great trouble to make sure that they and their exhibits are at our rally.
Something for which we are equally as grateful – if it wasn’t for their efforts over the years of preservation then there would be no exhibits for us all to admire, and we thank them for their efforts.
All-in-all, our 2016 Rally can safely be classed as a success, and we hope that all those who came and joined us, either for the weekend or just the day, had an enjoyable weekend as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing you all again at Onslow Park in 2017.
There’s so much to see and learn about at Shrewsbury Steam Rally, so here’s just a small selection of photos from the 2016 Rally, just to whet your appetite for the year ahead.
